The art of stretching textiles
Most material based pieces of work, such as Embroideries and Tapestries will
need to be stretched. Ideally, it would be nice not to use glass so the texture
can be seen, however, most people use glass to protect the work. There are
various types of glass, plain, non-reflective, anti-reflective coated and UV
filter. Spacers can be used to lift the glass from the stitch-work, particularly
when beads are used. The work can have a card border to enhance, this also acts
as a spacer. Because of the extra thickness of the work we would generally use
a frame with a deeper rebate.
We love a long stretch!
